DANIEL BYMAN is Professor in the School of Foreign Service, with a concurrent appointment in the Department of Government and as the Director of the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University. Byman is also a senior fellow in the Transnational Threats Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He has written extensively on a range of topics related to terrorism, international security, civil and ethnic conflict, and the Middle East. Byman is an editor at Lawfare and served as a member of the Department of State’s International Security Advisory Board. His latest books are: Spreading Hate: The Global Rise of White Supremacist Terrorism; Road Warriors: Foreign Fighters in the Armies of Jihad; and Al Qaeda, The Islamic State.
